25 | On 12/12/24, at 10:55 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Shane Loftus conducted an unannounced Annual/Random Inspection the Child Care Center (CCC). LPA met with Jamie Sanbonmatsu, Director of the CCC and explained the purpose of the inspection. LPA, in the company of Director, toured the interior and exterior of the CCC.
The CCC operates from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and is located on the grounds of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Arroyo Grande. The preschool uses four classrooms (T4- Pre-K, P1 - 2 years, P2 – 2 to 3 years, and P3 – 3 years) for child care. There are 39 children in care at the time of inspection along with 7 teachers (cleared and associated) providing care and supervision.
The classrooms of the CCC are clean and organized. The classrooms have age-appropriate toys and furnishings available for children in care. The CCC has operable carbon monoxide detectors in each room. A carbon monoxide detector was tested in the office area at 12:45 PM and found to be operable. The restrooms used by children in care are in safe and sanitary operating condition. LPA observed an operable refrigerator in the office area. LPA notes snacks are provided by the CCC, while children in care bring lunches from their homes. LPA also observed a CCC menu near the entry of the facility. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions and sharps are secured in each of the classroom cabinets which are inaccessible to children, elevated and locked by magnets. Medication is secured in the CCC's office. LPA notes the Community Room of the CCC has an inactive fireplace which is covered by a metal gate/covering.
The CCC's play area is enclosed by wooden fencing. The wooden fences have wired fencing behind for added security. The fences' entry/exit gates are secured. LPA observed age-appropriate toys and play equipment in the play area. The toys and play equipment are in suitable condition and free of sharp, loose or pointed objects. The play structures in the outdoor area have adequate cushioning materials to absorb falls and an abundance of shade created by trees and building overhangs. No bodies of water were observed on site.
