25 | On 9/2/21, at 10:45 AM , Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elvin Baddley conducted an unannounced Required Inspection the abovementioned Child Care Center (CCC). The LPA met with Liz Richardson, Director of the CCC and explained the purpose of the inspection. The LPA, in the company of Director, toured the interior and exterior of the CCC. The center operates from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday - Friday. This is a preschool center with a toddler option. The preschool uses six classrooms for child care. LPA observed 65 children on site during the inspection along with 14 teachers (cleared and associated) providing care and supervision.
The classrooms of the CCC were clean and organized. The classrooms had age appropriate toys and furnishings available for children. The CCC has an operable carbon monoxide detector which was tested (11:15 AM). The attached bathroom in each classroom is in safe and sanitary operating condition. LPA observed an operable refrigerator in the CCC's office. The CCC provides snacks for children in care while lunches are provided by parents. There is available drinking water for children both inside the classroom and outside in the play area. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, sharps and medications are secured in elevated cabinets in each classroom and inaccessible to children. Medication is also stored in the CCC's office which is inaccessible to children.
The CCC has two outdoor playground areas. Each playground is enclosed by chain linked fencing. The fences' entry/exit gates are secured. LPA observed age appropriate toys and play equipment in the play area. The toys and play equipment are in suitable condition and free of sharp, loose or pointed objects. The play structures in the playground areas have adequate cushioning materials to absorb falls and an abundance of shade created by trees, building overhangs and shade covers. No bodies of water were observed on site. Waste receptacles with tight fitting covers were observed throughout the center.
