CCCs constructed before 1/1/20, are supposed to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before 1/1/23, and then every 5-years except after the date of the first test. For child care center licenses issued after 7/1/22, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1-CCP). LPA confirmed that the CCC are in compliance with the following directives.
LPA reviewed the children's sign in and sign out forms and found the arrival times of children, along with the departure times in the classrooms of the CCC. The signatures of authorized representatives were also present.
LPA observed a smoke and carbon monoxide detector in each of the four classrooms at the CCC. In one of the preschool classrooms (the Full Day Classroom), a smoke detector was tested at 10:35 AM and at 10:36 AM a carbon monoxide detector was tested. Both detectors were found to be operational. In one of the toddler option classrooms (the Early Headstart classroom), LPA tested a smoke detector at 10:46 AM and a carbon monoxide detector at 10:47 AM. Both detectors were also found to be operational. LPA also observed a number of fire extinguishers throughout the CCC. Site Supervisor informed LPA that cleaning compounds are kept in a locked compartment in the staff bathroom, an area inaccessible for children in care. No sharps are kept in any of the classrooms. Sharps are stored in the CCC’s industrial kitchen, another area that is inaccessible to children in care. Medication was observed in enclosed bags throughout the classrooms, which were positioned in elevated areas. Multiple First Aid Kits were also observed in different areas throughout the CCC.
As mentioned prior, the CCC utilizes two bathrooms for children in care. In one of the preschool bathrooms, which is near staff offices, there are two toilets and two sinks. In another preschool classroom (the Extended Day classroom), there are two toilets and three sinks. Each bathroom was found to be clean, orderly, and rid of any hazardous items for children in care.
The outdoor play areas are enclosed by metal chain linked fencing throughout and are separated by preschool and toddler age programs. The fence’s entry/exit gates are secure and furnishings in the area are (CONT. 809-C, Page 3) |
