25 | On 8/23/21, at 9:30 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elvin Baddley conducted an unannounced Required Inspection the abovementioned Child Care Center (CCC). The LPA met with Ann Balasuriya, Director of the CCC and explained the purpose of the inspection. The LPA, in the company of Director, toured the interior and exterior of the CCC. The CCC operates from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday - Friday and uses two classrooms (Sunshine Room and Rainbow Room) for child care. LPA observed 17 children on site during the inspection, along with 3 teachers (cleared and associated).
The classrooms of the CCC are clean and organized. The classrooms have age appropriate toys and furnishings available for children in care. The CCC has an operable carbon monoxide detector in each classroom which was tested (10: 25 AM). The bathroom in the CCC is observed in safe and sanitary operating condition. The CCC has operable refrigerator on site and the CCC provides morning and afternoon snacks for children in care, while children bring lunches from their homes. Disinfectants and cleaning solutions are stored on elevated shelves in the Sunshine Room's supply closet which are beyond the reach and inaccessible to children in care. Likewise, LPA also observed Cleaning supplies a secured hall closet. Sharps in the classrooms are observed on elevated shelves, beyond the reach of children in care in each classroom. Director informed LPA no medication is on site, but when medication is present it is stored in the CCC's office which is an area which excluded from care.
The CCC's outdoor playground area is enclosed by wooden fencing. The playground fences' entry/exit gate is observed secured. LPA observed age appropriate toys and play equipment in the playground area. The toys and play equipment are in suitable condition and free of sharp, loose or pointed objects. The play structures in the playground areas have adequate cushioning materials to absorb falls in the form of sand and an abundance of shade created by trees and shade covers. No bodies of water are observed on site. There is available drinking water for children both inside the classroom and outside in the play area. Waste receptacles with tight fitting covers are observed throughout the center.
