32 | The CCC has an outdoor play area for both infants and toddlers. The area is partitioned by chain linked fencing to create space for each group. LPA observed age appropriate toys/play equipment in the play area. The toys/play equipment are free of sharp, loose or pointed objects. Site Supervisor is reminded to replace toys/play equipment which begins to degrade or is not in good repair. There is ample shade provided in the outdoor play area created by coverings. Play structures also have ample material at the base for cushioning. Three locked sheds are in the outdoor play area. The sheds contain center supplies and equipment. No bodies of water were observed on site.
Children's record were reviewed and found to be complete. LPA observed sleep plans as well as sleep logs completed in 15 minute intervals. Children in care have needs and service plans as well as immunization records and emergency contact information, among other things. Staff Pediatric CPR/ First Aid and Mandated Reporter certifications are current. Site Supervisor informed LPA no firearms or ammunition are stored on site.
Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Family Child Care Homes Section 102417. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Facility Representative was reminded that all adults 18 years of age working in the CCC including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with Facility Representative and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an or additional resource. LPA also informed Facility Representative of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.
A Notice of Site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Facility Representative Ruby Alcantar
