25 | On 12/7/21, at 9:30 AM , Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elvin Baddley conducted an unannounced Required Inspection the abovementioned Child Care Center (CCC). The LPA met with Madelyn Chevalier, Director of the CCC and explained the purpose of the inspection. The LPA, in the company of Director, toured the interior and exterior of the CCC. The center operates from 7:30 AM to 5:15 PM, Monday - Friday. The center use three classrooms (Toddler Room ages 18 months- 3 years, Preschool Room 1- ages 2.5-4 and Preschool Room 2- ages 3.5-5) for child care. LPA observed 13 children on site during the inspection along with 4 (cleared and associated) teachers providing care and supervision.
The classroom used for child care of the are organized and clean. Each Classroom has age appropriate toys and furnishings available for children. The CCC has carbon monoxide detectors throughout. A carbon monoxide detector was tested in Preschool Room 1 at 12:20 PM and found to be operable.
The restrooms used for care are in safe and sanitary operating condition. LPA observed an operable refrigerator in the CCC's kitchen. The CCC provides snacks and lunches for toddlers. Preschool age children bring lunches from their respective homes, while the center provides snacks. CCC staff view children's lunches to ensure the lunches contain healthy food items and are free of items considered to be junk food. There is available drinking water for children both inside the classroom and outside in the play area. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, sharps and medications are stored in elevated locations throughout the CCC which are inaccessible to children in care.
The CCC's outdoor playground areas are enclosed by chain link fencing. The fences' entry/exit gates are secured. LPA observed age appropriate toys and play equipment in the play areas. The toys and play equipment are in suitable condition and free of sharp, loose or pointed objects. The play structures in the playground areas have ample cushioning (ie wood chips and artificial grass with foams) materials to absorb falls and an abundance of shade created by trees, shade covers and building overhangs. No bodies of water were observed on site. Waste receptacles with tight fitting covers were observed throughout the CCC.
