25 | On 12/2/22, at 9:00 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elvin Baddley conducted an unannounced One Year Required Inspection the abovementioned Child Care Center (CCC). The LPA met with Madelyn Chevalier, Director of the CCC and explained the purpose of the inspection. The LPA, in the company of Director, toured the interior and exterior of the CCC. The center operates on the campus of Cuesta College from 7:30 AM to 5:15 PM, Monday - Friday. The CCC use three classrooms (Toddler Room ages 18 months- 3 years, Preschool Room 1- ages 2.5-4 and Preschool Room 2- ages 3.5-5) for child care. LPA observed 24 children on site during the inspection along with six teachers (cleared and associated) providing care and supervision.
Each classroom used for child care is organized. The classroom have age appropriate toys and furnishings available for children in care. The CCC has carbon monoxide detectors throughout the facility. A carbon monoxide detector was tested in Preschool Room 1 at 10:30 AM and found to be operable. The restrooms used for care are in sanitary operating condition. LPA observed an operable refrigerator in the CCC's kitchen. The CCC provides snacks, while lunches are brought from the children's homes. CCC staff members view children's lunches to ensure the lunches contain healthy food items and foods from the essential food groups. There is available drinking water for children both inside the classroom and outside in the play area. The CCC had it water sources tested for lead containments. Test results are posted on the CCC's parent board along with required licensing forms and notices. LPA observed Sign In/Out documentation near the CCC's entry which noted arrival and departure times of children in care and as well as signatures from authorized representatives. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, sharps and medications are stored in elevated locations throughout the CCC which are inaccessible to children in care.
The CCC's outdoor playground areas has varied footing and is enclosed by chain link fencing. The fences' entry/exit gates are secured. LPA observed age appropriate toys and play equipment in the play areas. The toys and play equipment are in suitable condition and free of sharp, loose or pointed objects. The play
