25 | On 9/28/21, at 10:30 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elvin Baddley conducted a Required Inspection of the abovementioned Family Child Care Home (FCCH). LPA met with Mary Apodaca, Licensee of the FCCH and explained the purpose of the inspection. LPA, in the company of the Licensee, toured the interior and exterior of the FCCH. The home’s playroom (converted garage), restroom and backyard are used for child care while the remainder of the FCCH is excluded from children care. At the time of the inspection six children are present, along with a Assistant (spouse- cleared and associated).
LPA observed required licensing forms and documents post on the wall near the entry door of the FCCH. LPA also observed a combination smoke/carbon monoxide detector near the entry of the FCCH. The detector was tested (10:45 AM) and found to be operable. LPA observed a regulation fire extinguisher in the FCCH which was purchased on 9/28/21. LPA reminded the Licensee to either service or purchase a regulation fire extinguisher annually. LPA reviewed the FCCH's fire/disaster drill log. The most recent fire drill occurred on 8/2/21. A fireplace is located in an exclude area of the FCCH which is inaccessible to children in care.
LPA observed the FCCH to be clean and orderly. The bathroom which is used for care is clean and free of toxins. LPA observed cleaning compounds on the shelf of an elevated cabinet in the laundry room. Cleaning products are also observed atop of the dryer and washer in the laundry room which is beyond the reach of children in care. Licensee informed LPA medications in the FCCH are stored in a cabinet in the master bedroom which is inaccessible to children in care and in an excluded area of the FCCH. LPA observed age appropriate toys, furniture and equipment in the FCCH.
The FCCH's backyard is enclosed by chain link fencing. The fence’s entry/exit gates are secure. The footing in the backyard area is made up of natural grass and wood chips. LPA observed the backyard to be partitioned by wrought iron fencing. LPA observed a green house in the back yard as well as sheds containing housed good and yard equipment.
