25 | On 10/1/24, at 2:50 pm, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Shane Loftus and Elvin Baddley conducted an unannounced Annual/Random Inspection of the facility. LPAs met with Licensee, Cindy Cipres, and explained the purpose of the inspection. LPAs in the company of licensee, toured the interior and exterior of the Family Child Care Home (FCCH). The FCCH is a single-story dwelling consisting of 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, family room, kitchen, and backyard. The living room, family room, kitchen, bathroom, and a portion of the backyard are used for child care. There was an assistant (Sierra Lounder) and 13 children in care at the time of inspection.
The FCCH has a regulation 2A10 BC fire extinguisher that was serviced on 7/18/24. LPAs reminded licensee the fire extinguisher needs to be either serviced or newly purchased annually. LPAs tested the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors at 3:10 pm, and found to be operational. Licensee states cleaning supplies are stored in the garage, which is off limits to children. Medications are stored in the master bedroom, which is inaccessible to children in care. Sharps are stored on top of the refrigerator and in an elevated cabinet, making them inaccessible to children in care. The bathroom used for child care is clean and orderly. The FCCH has a fireplace that is covered with a glass screen. The facility has ventilation for childcare services. A portion of the FCCH’s backyard is cordoned off with metal fencing for children in care. The outdoor area has plenty of shade for the children in care. Toys and equipment observed in the FCCH are age appropriate. There are no bodies of water on the property. Licensee stated there are no guns or ammunition in the home.
The FCCH has the appropriate documentation posted in the home. A sampling of the children's records was reviewed and contain the required documents. Licensee documents 15-Minute Sleep Checks for infants in the Brightwheel application. The licensee’s and assistant’s records were reviewed, containing current CPR/First Aid and Immunization records. LPAs reminded licensee that Mandated Reporter AB1207 and CPR/First Aid must be updated every two years.
