25 | On 3/23/22, at 12:30 PM Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Francisca Velazquez conducted an unannounced Required inspection of the abovementioned Family Child Care Home (FCCH). LPA met with Yadria Mendoza, Licensee of the FCCH and explained the nature and purpose of the inspection. LPA notes eleven (11) children are on site along with Assistant, Aregelia Olvera.
LPA, in the company of the Licensee, toured the exterior and interior of the FCCH. The home’s living room, one bedroom, bathroom and part of the back yard are used for child care services, while the kitchen, formal living room, garage, part of the back yard and the entire second floor are excluded from services. LPA notes that two child safety gates block off the kitchen and formal living room. LPA notes that a safety gate is located on the first step of the stairway, making the entire second floor inaccessible to children in care.
The daycare areas in the FCCH are clean, orderly and has ventilation to afford for the children’s comfort and safety. Medication in the FCCH is stored in a cabinet in the kitchen that is elevated. Sharps are stored in the same kitchen cabinet. LPA notes cabinet is located in the kitchen which is inaccessible to children and cabinet also has a safety lock. Cleaning compounds were observed to be stored under the sink in the restroom and under the sink in the kitchen, both areas are locked and inaccessible to children in care. Laundry detergents are stored in the laundry room in an elevated shelve. Laundry room was observed to be locked during this inspection. All areas were observed to be inaccessible to children in care. Toys, furniture and equipment observed in the FCCH are age appropriate.
Required forms are posted on the FCCH living room wall. The FCCH has smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Detectors were not tested due to children napping during the time of this inspection. Licensee stated that detectors are checked monthly to ensure the detectors are operational. The FCCH has a regulation fire extinguisher which was serviced on 1/3/22. LPA reminded the Licensee to either service or purchase a regulation fire extinguisher annually. LPA reviewed the home’s fire/disaster drill documentation. The last drill was completed on 3/8/22.
