32 | The CCC has two outdoor playground areas. The playground area for 2 to 3 year olds is in the courtyard of the classrooms. The playground area for older children is in south end of the CCC and enclosed by cinder block and chain link fencing. The fences' entry/exit gates are secured. LPA observed age appropriate toys and play equipment in each of the the play areas. The toys and play equipment observed are in suitable condition and free of sharp, loose or pointed objects. The play structures in the playground areas have adequate cushioning materials to absorb falls (I.e wood chips) and an abundance of shade created by trees, shade covering and building overhangs. LPA reminded Director to replace outdoor place equipment when it begin to degrade or is not in good repair. No bodies of water are observed on site.
Staff and children's records are reviewed. The children’s records were complete and found to contain emergency contact information as well as immunization records. The CCC also has documentation capturing children (ages 18-24 months) sleep checks in intervals of 15 minutes. Staff member's records were reviewed and contained current CPR and First Aid certifications and well as Mandated Reporter certifications and qualifications. LPA notes CCC record indicate the last fire drill was completed in April of 2022. Director informed LPA no firearm or ammunition is stored on site.
Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with Director and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an for additional resource. LPA also informed Director of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.
Facility representative were reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to
