25 | On 7/21/21, at 11:30 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elvin Baddley conducted an unannounced Required Inspection the abovementioned Child Care Center (CCC). The LPA met with Christy Hilliard , Director of the CCC and explained the purpose of the inspection. The LPA, in the company of Director, toured the interior and exterior of the CCC. The center operates from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday - Friday. This is a combined center with a school age program. The preschool uses three classrooms (Timmy Tiger- ages 2, Budda Bear- ages 3-4 and Catina Cat- ages 4-5) for child care. LPA observed 12 children on site during the inspection along with three teachers.
The classrooms of the CCC were clean and organized. The classrooms had age appropriate toys and furnishings available for children. The CCC has an operable carbon monoxide detector which was tested (12:05 PM). The attached bathroom in each classroom is in safe and sanitary operating condition. LPA observed an operable refrigerator in each classroom and noted snacks are provided by the CCC, while children in care bring lunches from their respective homes. Disinfectants and cleaning solutions are secured in a staff bathroom storages and inaccessible to children. Disinfectants and cleaning solutions are also observed on elevated shelves in each classroom beyond the reach of children. Likewise, sharps in the classroom are observed on elevated shelves, beyond the reach of children in care.
The CCC has two outdoor playground areas. Each playground is enclosed by chain linked fencing. The fences' entry/exit gates are secured. The LPA observed age appropriate toys and play equipment in the play area. The toys and play equipment are in suitable condition and free of sharp, loose or pointed objects. The play structures in the playground areas have adequate cushioning materials to absorb falls and an abundance of shade created by trees, building overhangs and a canopy. No bodies of water were observed on site. There is available drinking water for children both inside the classroom and outside in the play area. Waste receptacles with tight fitting covers were observed throughout the center.
