On 7/16/21 at 9:23am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Melissa Stewart, conducted an unannounced 1 Year Required and Capacity Increase inspection. A COVID 19 Risk Assessment was conducted via phone call with Director/Owner, Dani Wasjutin. All answers provided indicated no exposure to COVID 19. LPA met with Licensees Dani Wasjutin and Tony Burg and the purpose of the inspection was discussed. The preschool operates, Monday - Friday, 7:45am - 4:45pm. All required forms, including monthly menu, are posted at the main entrance of the center. The center was toured and measure inside and outside. There were four (4) staff and one (1) intern supervising 17 children at time of inspection. The number of children signed in by parents corresponded with the number of children present. The classrooms were observed to be clean, organized and free of toxins.

LPA observed indoor activity centers containing books, puzzles, manipulatives, blocks, arts and crafts and dramatic play materials. The center conducts monthly emergency and disaster drills. An earthquake and fire drill was held on 7/15/21. The center has multiple first aid kits and a functioning carbon monoxide detector. Director reported that there are no firearms, ammunition or bodies of water on the premises. The restrooms used by children were observed to be clean. There are three (3) outdoor activity areas which have adequate shade and are each completely fenced. Outdoor equipment was observed to be safe and age appropriate. A sample of staff and children's files were reviewed and found to be complete. At least one staff has current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification on file (expiration 12/2022).
Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. Director reported that one child currently enrolled receives blood glucose monitoring. Child's file was reviewed for appropriate documentation. The following information regarding ADA was provided: US Department of Justice (USDOJ) toll-free ADA Information Line at (800) 514-0301 (voice)/ (800) 514-0383 (TTY) and link to publication: Commonly Asked Questions about Child Care Centers and the ADA, available at: www.ada.gov/childqanda.htm

The center submitted an application to CCLD requesting to increase licensed capacity to 50 children ages 2 years-kindergarten. LPA observed sufficient sinks, toilets, indoor and outdoor space for the requested capacity. The Atascadero Fire Department conducted a fire inspection on 7/13/21 at which time the facility received fire clearance. The facility meets Division 12 Title 22 regulations and the capacity increase to 50 children is effective today.

Director reported that the “Effects of Lead Exposure” brochure is distributed to all families at time of enrollment and that she is subscribed to receive Provider Information Notices (PINs) via email which can be accessed on-line at www.cdss.ca.gov.

In areas evaluated, no deficiencies cited. LPA observed Director post the Notice of Site visit.
