Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) C. Patterson and S. Mendoza- Ceja conducted an unannounced inspection of the home. LPAs met with licensee Tamara Courtney and explained the purpose of the visit. LPAs toured the home inside and outside and interviewed the licensee.
-Licensee stated she recently had a new family enroll in the day care. Licensee stated the child only attended the day care for one day. Licensee stated it was brought to her attention of a concern that a child could fall from the retaining wall. Licensee stated she listened the parent's concerns. Licensee stated she looked for a barrier to keep children safe while maintaining the "natural, organic, free-range area" of the yard. Licensee stated the solution was to create a barrier with plants so that children do not sit on the retaining wall. Licensee stated she teaches the children to be safe in the outside space. Licensee also stated she has not had any issues in the backyard.
-LPAs inspection of the home/backyard area revealed licensee already obtained plants for the retaining wall to secure the area. LPAs documented the outdoor space with photos.
-Based on LPAs observations of the home/backyard and interview with licensee, licensee took the issue into consideration and addressed the concern by finding a solution. The inside and outside of the home were found be clean, organized, and free of hazards.
-Although these allegations may have occurred, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove that the alleged violations did or did not occur, therefore, these allegations are deemed Unsubstantiated.
No deficiencies were cited. The LIC9213 (Notice of Site Visit) was posted during the visit.
