On 6/15/21, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elvin Baddley conducted an unannounced Required inspection the abovementioned Child Care Center (CCC). The LPA met with Sophie Crisp, Director of the CCC and explained the purpose of the inspection. The LPA, in the company of the Director toured the interior and exterior of the CCC. The center operates from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday. The CCC is dedicated infant program. At the time of the inspection, eight children are present, along with one teacher, in addition to the Director.

The CCC is clean and organized. Likewise, the CCC has ventilation to afford for child care. LPA observed age appropriate toys and furnishings throughout the CCC. The CCC was four cribs along with four napping pads for children in care with various levels of mobility. LPA observed carbon monoxide detectors affixed to the ceiling. The detectors were not tested by LPA as a number of children in care are sleep, however LPA observed a blinking green light in the detectors which notes the detectors' operational/functioning status. The CCC's bathroom is in safe and sanitary operating condition. The CCC has an operable refrigerator. The refrigerator contains the children's. food and formula. LPA observed the food and formula was labeled. Additionally, the CCC provides the children in care bottled water. Disinfectants and cleaning solutions are secure on an elevated shelf and a locked closet. Each location is inaccessible to children in care. Medication in the facility is stored in a secure closet.

LPA observed a menu posted along side other licensing required notices. Director noted children in care normally bring lunches from home given the childrens' varied diets. LPA observed a Sign In/Out form near the CCC's entry which is completed appropriately.

The center’s outdoor play area is in the center of CCC. LPA observed age appropriate toys/play equipment in the play area. The toys/play equipment are free of sharp, loose or pointed objects. No bodies of water were observed on site.

The Director noted no firearms/weapons or ammunition was stored on the premises.

A sampling of staff and children records were reviewed. The children’s records were complete and found to contain emergency contact information as well as medical assessments. Records also included a log documenting 15 minute sleep checks and completed Individual Sleep plans. Staff records were reviewed and current. Director completed First Aid/CPR 2/29/20 and Mandated Reporter Training was satisfied on 5/17/21.

This facility provides Incidental Medical Services (IMS). LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. LPA discussed COVID 19 guidance and best practices. Director was reminded that it is Director's responsibility to know the regulations for CCC which can be accessed on-line at www.ccld.ca.gov.

In areas evaluated, no deficiencies observed.
