Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Cindy Interiano met with Assistant Director, Rosie Morales. Purpose of the inspection was explained and was to conduct an Annual/Random inspection. Present in the facility is Director and 14 Staff supervising 148 (napping) PreK children and 13 Toddlers. Program is in compliance with Staff-child ratios. Facility operates on the Highlands Christian School property in Classrooms: Toddler, Lambs, Bear, Lions, Tigers, Giraffe, KC-6, KC-7, KC-13, and KC-14. Licensed classrooms include KC-12, Deer, and Koala, however they are currently not in use. Program operates M-F, 7a-6p, year-round, with periodic breaks throughout the year. LPA and Director inspected facility indoors and outdoors for Health and Safety Hazards. Each classroom has age appropriate toys and equipment. There is sufficient lighting and ventilation in each classroom. Cubbies and hooks are used to store children’s belongings. Each classroom has or shares children’s restrooms. There is a total of 19 toilets and 19 sinks for children’s usage. Children's restrooms and changing tables are kept clean, in good repair, and with adequate supplies. There are separate staff restrooms. All cleaning supplies are maintained inaccessible to children. Napping equipment is stored properly. Emergency supplies are available and maintained. Facility meets all posting requirements. Program serves daily snacks and meals. First Aid kit is fully equipped and properly stored. Facility has multiple smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and Fire Extinguishers. Last emergency disaster drill was conducted on 08/29/19 and is properly logged. Outdoor playarea is kept free of debris and dangerous conditions. All outdoor toys and equipment are age appropriate and in good repair. Drinking water is readily available indoors and outdoors.

During the inspection, Director and LPA discussed unusual incidents:
First incident occurred on 08/23/19 in which two children bumped into each other while playing on a bouncy house. Child #1 suffered a ‘chipped tooth’ and Child #2 got hurt on the head. First Aid was immediately administered and Child #1 and Child #2’s Guardians were contacted and picked up. Both children returned to the Facility the next day. Bouncy house was rented for a special occasion and is no longer on premises. Rental of a bouncy house or similar items will be reconsidered in the future.
Second incident occurred during a period of 08/12/19-8/24/19, in which there was 26 confirmed cases of Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease. Director states Health Department was contacted and a deep cleaning of the classrooms were conducted. Guardians were notified of the outbreak. All children have since returned to the Facility.

Also during inspection,
*Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed.
*Director was reminded about having all Staff and Volunteers provide proof of immunization against influenza, pertussis, and measles or qualifies for an exemption.
*Director was reminded of Pesticides training. Information on the DPR website at: www.cdpr.ca.gov/shoolipm/childcare.
*Director was reminded about Mandated Reporter Training available on CCLD website (www.ccld.ca.gov or www.mandatedreporterca.com)
*Director was reminded about the Provider Information Notices (PINs) on CCLD website.

***No deficiencies were cited against the facility under CCR,Title 22, Div. 12, Ch. 1. ***
