25 | On September 27, 2023, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Jonathan Tse and Maria Olguin-Leon conducted an unannounced case management visit to Sea Breeze School. LPAs met with Principal Jerelyn Weber and explained the purpose of the visit, which was a case management for a door installation in Room 1. Present today were 101 preschool-age children and 11 teachers. The facility is in compliance with teacher-child ratios. LPAs observed that required documents were posted.
LPAs observed the door frame in Room 1 did not have a door installed. Principal explained that the fire department did not approve the door installation due to a potential health and safety hazard, since children need to be able to push the door outwards in the case of an emergency. There was no fire report to review, as the fire department's visit was conducted as a courtesy. Shelving was moved to block a portion of the doorway. The remaining space is blocked by a child proof mesh barricade.
LPAs conducted a health and safety inspection of the facility with the principal. LPAs observed classrooms to be kept in clean and orderly condition, with age appropriate toys. A fully charged fire extinguisher was present. LPAs observed the outdoor play area to have sufficient padding underneath the play structures, with age appropriate toys and equipment available for use.
A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the principal, Jerelyn Weber. |
