25 | On June 6th, 2023 at approximately 9:20AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Tapia-Mandujano conducted an unannounced required annual inspection. LPA met with Site Supervisor, Roxana Pena and explained the purpose of the inspection. Present in the facility are Site Supervisor and 10 staff caring for a total of 53 preschool age children within the four classrooms. All adults working in the facility are fingerprint cleared through the School District. Facility is currently operating within teacher to child ratio on this date.
Program operates in classrooms #CDC1, #CDC2, CDC 3 and #CDC4 on the Hoover Elementary School campus. Room #CDC3 operates AM session 9a-12p and PM session 2p-5p, M-F, following the School District Calendar (Aug-June); #CDC1, CDC2, and CDC4 operates 8a-4p, M-F, year-round with periodic breaks throughout the year.
LPA inspected the facility for health and safety hazards. Each classroom is equipped with two toilets and two sinks. LPA observed each classroom to be clean and equipped with age appropriate toys and materials. Storage for children's belongings are located inside the classrooms, labeled with each child's individual names. LPA observed facility has an installation of a fire alarm system throughout the building as well as multiple fully charged, fire extinguishers. Each classroom has a smoke and carbon monoxide detector installed as well as emergency kits with first aid materials and emergency contact information. Medication is stored appropriately, inaccessible to enrolled children and maintained with proper documentation.
All poisons, cleaning solutions and hazardous materials are stored inaccessible to children in off limit areas or facility's high shelves. Facility provides breakfast, lunch, and snack that is provided by the Child Food Program and is picked up by a staff daily. Water is available to children indoors and outdoor. Outdoor area appears to be clean and orderly. There are a variety of outdoor equipment that are in good working condition. Play structures have resilient padding. Children are signed in and out of facility by parents. Facility has license documentation and information properly posted and available for review in each classroom.
LPA reviewed facility records that included 5 children's records and 5 staff records. LPA observed children's and staff's records to be complete. All staff have valid CPR & First Aid Certification valid. Staff have up to date Mandated Reporter training certificates. The last Emergency Drill that was conducted was 5/2023. Emergency drills are conducted at least once every six months and are properly logged and documented.
