25 | On September 16, 2024, at approximately 9:10 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Janet Gil conducted an unannounced, annual inspection. LPA met with lead teacher, Sophia Porras Castillos, and explained the purpose of the inspection. Lead teacher is designated with facility responsibility. At approximately 10:00 AM. Director Cristina Haley arrived at the facility.
Preschool program operates on George Hall Elementary School. Program is licensed to operate in portable classroom #24 and classroom #2. On date of LPA's visit, program is operating out of classroom #2 only.
Present during inspection included 16 enrolled children, lead teacher, teacher's assistant, and director. All staff members working in preschool program are fingerprint cleared through SMFCSD. Preschool program currently operates Monday through Friday 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM.
LPA, lead teacher, and principle inspected preschool program, indoors and outdoors, for health and safety hazards. Classroom has a working telephone, carbon monoxide detector and fire extinguisher in classroom. Entire facility has smoke and fire alarm system implemented by school district. LPA observed cleaning solutions, poisons and other chemicals are stored inaccessible to children in classroom's high shelves. Per lead teacher, classroom only has cleaning wipes in the classroom because they have janitorial services.
Storage for children's belongings are located inside the classroom. Storage areas are labeled with each child's individual names. Classroom has age-appropriate furniture and materials that are in working condition. Classroom has proper temperature and is properly ventilated. LPA observed classroom has two accessible children's sinks. LPA observed bathrooms to be clean and in proper working condition.
Enrolled children bring their own snack/lunch to the facility from home. Lunch bags are labeled and kept in bin near the front entrance of classroom. Enrolled children have option to receive lunch form School District. Children's items are properly stored in individual cubbies. Drinking water is available to children, indoors and outdoors, with children's individual drinking bottles.
