25 | On August 9th, 2023 at approximately 10:15am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Tapia-Mandujano arrived at the facility. LPA conducted an announced case management inspection for a licensee initiated increase of capacity in addition to add Room #4. LPA met with Principal, Cristina Haley. Present in the facility is Principal with some staff setting up classrooms. The facility is currently closed for the Summer. First day of school is August 15th, 2023. Fire Clearance is pending.
Facility is located on Lead Elementary school. Facility is currently licensed for 48 children in Room #1 and Room #6. Facility has requested to increase capacity from 48 to 72 preschool age children in Rooms #1, Room #4, and Room #6. LPA measured Room #4 to be 844.84sqft allowing for 24 children in the classroom.
LPA inspected Room #4 for health and safety hazard. Classroom is not fully set up. LPA observed that there is a working smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, and is missing a fire extinguisher in the classroom. Facility will ensure that all the cleaning solutions, poisons, and other chemicals that are dangerous to the children are stored inaccessible to the children. Room has age appropriate furniture. Furniture is steady and in good repair. Floor appears to be in good repair and free of any hazards. Room #4 has 2 toilets and 1 sink. Between the classrooms there are 5 toilets and 5 sinks allowing for capacity of 72 preschool children.
LPA received the following documents from Principal, Cristina Haley: LIC 200A, LIC 309, Facility sketch, LIC 500 and LIC 610 for each classroom, and a Parent Handbook.
Prior to approving and increase of capacity and addition of Room #4, the pending items must be completed:
*Fire Clearance is required
*Baby gate removed from the door
*All cabinets containing dangerous objects are locked and secured
No deficiencies were cited today. Exit interview and report was discussed with Principal, Cristina Haley.
