LPA reviewed 5 children’s records and 5 staff records. All children's records were complete with all required documents. Facility has posted the required forms (i.e., License, menus, Notification of Parent's Rights, Notification of Personal Rights, Car Seat Law (updated), and Emergency Disaster Plan). Last emergency drill was conducted on 04/19/2023 and properly documented. Drills are conducted on a monthly basis. Lead water testing has been submitted to our office.
Incidental Medical Services were discussed with Director, LPA observed medication to be properly stored in emergency backpack in classroom along with medical consent form. LPA reminded Director to check expiration date on medication. There are several first aid kits available in the classroom with plenty of medical supplies. Isolation area for sick children is in office area away from other children. Technical assistance was issued for storage containers, as some were missing tight fitting lids. Facility uses an electronic sign in/out system with individual pin numbers for each authorize representative. Classroom has a fully charged fire extinguisher and dual smoke/carbon monoxide detector which is integrated through the school. Facility is equipped with landlines in each classroom and uses walkie talkies for communication on site.
Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the facility including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
Director was informed that as of September 1, 2016, a person may not be employed or volunteer at a childcare facility unless he or she has been immunized against influenza, pertussis, and measles or qualifies for an exemption pursuant to Health and Safety code 1596.7995 and 1597.662.
As of January 1, 2018, all staff must complete Mandated Reporter Training every two years. The training can be obtained online at www.mandatedreporterca.com.
