Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Andrea Medlin met with facility representative for this required annual licensing visit. Purpose of visit explained. There were 12 children present during the visit. Facility meets teacher/child ratio today. The preschool program operates in classroom #1 at the La Honda Elementary School. The preschool program is operated by the La Honda-Pescadero Unified School District; staff are school district employees and therefore exempt from community care licensing fingerprint requirements. Days and hours of operation: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 8:00AM-3:00PM; Wednesday 8:00AM-2:00PM. The facility has a fully charged fire extinguisher that meets minimum requirements, smoke detectors, and a carbon monoxide (CO) detector in the preschool. Children's bathrooms inspected; all toilets and hand washing facilities are in safe and sanitary operating condition. No pools, spas, hot tubs, fish ponds, or similar bodies of water are present. Per staff, there are no firearms or weapons on site. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, poisons and other items that are dangerous to children are inaccessible. Variety of age appropriate toys and materials for children is available. Classroom is set up for child care and furniture and equipment for children is present. Facility provides snacks and meals; parents/guardians can opt to bring their child's lunch. Adequate first aid supplies are available. Sick children will be separated from the group while waiting for parents to pick up. Outdoor play area inspected for health and safety hazards. There are no high climbing structures in outdoor area. Outdoor activity space surfaces are completely fenced and free of hazards. Facility has posted all the required licensing forms in the classroom. LPA reviewed files and all are complete.
