25 | On May 23, 2023. Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Maria Olguin-Leon met with Licensee, Yvette Silveira, for an unannounced annual inspection. The purpose of the inspection was explained. Present today was Licensee, helper and 7 children (4 infants & 3 preschoolers). Licensee is operating within capacity and ratio requirements on this day. Licensee and helper have criminal record clearances on file with the department. Hours of operation are Monday– Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm.
LPA and Licensee toured the home for health and safety hazards. The home is a one story home. Day Care Areas: Family room, rumpus room, dining room (for napping) and bathroom and outdoor playground area. Off Limits Areas: Kitchen, living room, all 3 bedrooms, and both bathrooms in off limits area and patio area in backyard. Fireplace in family room is completely barricaded with a bookcase. Kitchen is barricaded with child proof gate. The home is clean and has proper ventilation. Cleaning supplies and other potentially harmful items are stored inaccessible to the children. There are plenty of age-appropriate toys, child size furnishings, learning material and play pens. Licensees provide fitted sheets and washes them weekly. Backyard has a separate play area for children and is gated, there are plenty of age-appropriate toys and a play structure all in good repair. Outdoor playground flooring is covered with small pebble rocks.
The home is equipped with a carbon monoxide detector, smoke detector and a fully charged fire extinguisher located in rumpus room. Isolation area for ill children is in rumpus room away from other children. First aid kit is fully stocked with supplies. Licensee has a cell phone and understands phone is to stay in home during daycare hours. Per licensee there are no weapons or firearms in the home.
LPA reviewed 6 children’s records and all required documents were in children’s files. Helper file is complete with CPR/First Aid, Mandated Reporter and all other required documents. Licensee CPR/First Aid is current and will expire on 02/2025. Mandated reporter is current and expires 05/2025. Licensee provides and cooks meal for children in care. Children’s roster was reviewed and is up to date. Last emergency drill was documented on 05/19/2023. Licensee carries liability insurance is through DCI Insurance, renewal date is 02/2024.
