25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Andrea Medlin met with director for this random annual licensing visit today. Purpose of the visit explained. Days and hours of operation: Monday-Friday 7:00AM-6:00PM. There are 17 children present. Facility meets teacher-child ratio today. Physical plant toured, including the classroom used for the program. The preschool program operates in portable F2 on the Oceanshore Elementary School. The facility has a fully charged fire extinguisher that meets the minimum requirements, smoke detectors, and a carbon monoxide (CO) detector in the facility. Children's bathrooms inspected; all toilets and hand washing facilities are in safe and sanitary operating condition. Staff bathrooms are available. No pools, spas, hot tubs, fish ponds, or bodies of water are present. Per staff, there are no firearms or weapons on site. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, poisons and other items that are dangerous to children are inaccessible. Variety of age appropriate toys and materials for children are available in the classrooms. Facility is set up for child care and furniture and equipment for children is present. Facility provides snacks for children; sample menu is available and posted. First aid supplies are available. Sick children will be separated from the group and wait for parents to pick up. Outdoor play areas inspected for health and safety hazards. Outdoor activity space surfaces are free of hazards. Facility has posted all the required licensing forms. Last emergency disaster drill was conducted on 5/15/19 and is appropriately logged. Director has current Pediatric First Aid and CPR (exp 10/2020). LPA reviewed staff and children's files. In the children’s files, each child had current immunization records and Parent's Rights (LIC995). In the staff files, each had verification of meeting the educational requirements, health screening with TB test, required staff immunizations, and verification of the mandated child abuse reporting training as compliant with AB1207. All staff have current Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification. Director has current Pediatric First Aid and CPR (exp. 10/2020). The facility is clean and well maintained. No apparent health and safety hazards observed during the visit.
