25 | Licensing Program Analyst, Luis J. Gomez met with Director, Leanne Runyan. Purpose of the inspection was explained and is for an unannounced annual inspection. The preschool program operates in the San Mateo County Office of Education building. Preschool program utilizes one classroom: Room #8 and an outdoor play area. Hours of operation are Monday- Friday 9:00am- 12:00pm. Preschool program operates during the school year. Present is the director 2 staff supervising 13 children. All children present are properly signed-in. Facility is operating within capacity limits of the license on this day. LPA Gomez inspected facility with director for health and safety hazards.
At 8:35am on February 7, 2020 LPA inspected the room #8, children’s bathroom and an outdoor play area. Classroom is are clean, organized and have plenty of age appropriate toys, books, art supplies (non-toxic) for the children. Classroom has individualized cubbies and hangers for the children’s belongings. Classroom is divided into stations, with several child size tables and chairs for snack and activities. Classroom is equipped with a refrigerator, sink and cabinets along the wall for additional storage. The children’s bathroom is located inside the classroom. Children’s bathroom is maintained clean with adequate supplies for the children. Staff uses separate restroom located in the facility hallway. LPA observed all trash cans and outlets, located in the classrooms, are covered. There is acceptable ventilation and natural lighting. LPA Gomez inspected the outdoor play area for health and safety hazards. Per director, outdoor play area is shared with the other school age programs on site. Outdoor play area is completely enclosed and equipped with a sandbox, covered play structure and two swing sets. There is a soft, rubber padding throughout the yard for additional safety. Outdoor play yard is kept clean and free of debris and hazardous items. All outdoor equipment is in good repair. Drinking water is readily available for the children. LPA Gomez inspected children’s medication during today’s inspection. LPA observed all medication maintained at the center is current. Classroom has a smoke detector and a fully charged fire extinguishers (2A:40BC) located in the hallway. At 10:30am on February 7, 2020 LPA Gomez observed classroom does not have functioning carbon monoxide detector. First aid kits and emergency disaster supplies are available by the front door.
