25 | On January 22, 2025, at approximately 9:00am Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Maria Olguin-Leon
conducted an unannounced, annual inspection. LPA met with Director Mary William and explained the purpose of the inspection. Present in the facility today were, Director, 6 staff and 65 preschoolers. All adults working in the facility have criminal background clearances and are associated to the facility. Facility is operating within capacity and in compliance with staff/child ratio. Facility operates an infant and preschool program; facility hours of operation are Monday to Friday 7:45am to 5:45pm.
LPA and Director toured the facility for health and safety hazards. Facility operates a preschool and infant program. Preschool program operates one the entire 2nd floor and one downstairs classroom (previously little explorers), which is currently not in use. Classrooms are clean and orderly with proper temperature and ventilation. There are plenty of age-appropriate toys, child size furniture, learning materials, indoor dramatic play areas and sleeping cots all in good condition. Storage cubbies for children to store personal belongings are located in restroom. There is a centralized restroom located on second floor with working toilets and working sinks with no running hot water. LPA observed a changing table in restroom within arm’s reach of sink for hand washing currently not being used. There is a staff restroom located in facility for staff use only. All trash containers in restroom and in classroom have tight fitted lids. LPA reminded Director to install child proof locks on all cabinets where cleaning products, chemicals and toxins are stored. Facility has plenty of sleeping cots available for napping and facility and parents provide sheets for cots and are washed weekly by facility and sent home for washing or as needed.
Playground is equipped with an age-appropriate climbing/slide play structures, ride on toys, child size table for sitting and other age-appropriate toys. LPA reminded Director to repair or discard ride on toys and plays structure with missing or broken plastic pieces, technical violation was issued. There is a wooden Pergola to provide shade for children. Playground flooring is equipped artificial grass to cushion falls. Playground is surrounded with a 5 ft wood fence. LPA did not observe any pools, spas, or other bodies of water. Per Director, there are no weapons or firearms on the premises.
