25 | On May 22, 2023 at approximately 12:20pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Catrina Quimbo conducted an unannounced, annual inspection. LPA met with licensee, Tonya Katches, and explained the purpose of the inspection. The family child care home is a dually licensed foster family home.
Present during LPA's visit included licensee, licensee's adult children, and 5 enrolled children (4 infants and 1 preschool age). Licensee is a large family child care home and is operating within capacity limits and ratio during LPA's visit.
Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7:30am to 5:30pm. Licensee lives in the single level home with their spouse, two adult children, and foster child. The DAY CARE AREAS are the front yard, living room (main day care area), play room, bedroom #1, bathroom #1, bedroom #3, front and back portion of backyard. The OFF LIMIT AREAS are the kitchen/dining area (pass through only), bedroom #2, garage and left portion of backyard (maintained for licensee's dogs). Off limit areas are made inaccessible with child safety handle door knobs and/or gates.
LPA toured day care areas currently in use with licensee. During LPA's visit, current day care areas used are the front yard, living room, play room, and front and back portion of backyard. Per licensee, bedroom #1 and bedroom #3 are not currently being utilized as a day care area, however, will stay day care areas.
LPA observed home to be in good repair with proper temperature and ventilation. Home is equipped with a variety of age appropriate toys and materials that were in good condition. Living room includes a fire place that properly barricaded and made inaccessible. LPA observed cleaning supplies, poisons and other chemicals to be stored behind child safety locked cabinets and/or stored in home's high shelves. LPA observed electrical outlets are made inaccessible with child safety covers.
