25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mok conducted an unannounced annual inspection today. LPA met with the Site Director, Geraldine Malunay and 2 staff who have fingerprint clearance. The purpose of the inspection was explained to her. There were 18 children with 2 staff present. The preschool program is run in the Kindergarten B room (K-B) at Thomas Edison Elementary school. The Hours of the operation are Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 2:40 PM. LPA toured and inspected the facility for health and safety hazard. The classroom was clean and in order. The Temperature and lighting were adequate. All toxins and harmful objects were either locked or made inaccessible to children. All the lower cabinets were free of toxin items. All electrical outlets were covered. All sharp corners were covered. There were plenty of age-appropriate toys, books, learning material, crafting material, sand/water table, and children's furniture available for children. All toys and furniture were in good conditions. There was an adjacent bathroom with 2 children size toilets available for the children in the classroom. There were 2 sinks available for the children in the classroom as well. There was a water fountains available for the children indoor. Children also bring their own water bottle to school if needed. Cots with children's names were available for napping. The cots were kept in the storage room that was adjacent to the classroom. Children bring their own beddings to school, and parents take the bedding back for washing every Friday. Cubbies with children's name were available for the children to store their own belongings in the big cabinets by the main entrance. First aid supplies were available in the classroom. Fire drill has been done monthly and logged. Outdoor play area was completely fenced. The play area is shared with Kindergarten by schedule. Outdoor playground waiver was granted. Gross motor toys are brought outdoors daily. Rubber and wood chips were used as soft cushioning underneath the play structures to prevent injury. There was an age-appropriate play structure available for children. Monthly lunch menu was posted by the main entrance. Some children order lunches from school or bring their own lunches daily. At least one of the staff had current CPR/First Aid training; it will expire in 4/2020. Isolation area for the sick children was the nurse office. The child or children will be brought to there when they are waiting for parents pick up. Per Site director, there was one child on special medication. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services - IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children's, personnel, and administrative record.
