On April 11, 2023 @ 2:00 PM, LPA Olguin-Leon conducted an unannounced annual inspection at the Redwood Church Preschool. LPA met with Director Jennifer Corrales and purpose of visit was explained. Facility operates in 5 classrooms at the Redwood Church. Preschool is on spring break and no children were present for today’s visit. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 7:30 AM-5:30 PM

LPA and Director toured the facility for health and safety hazards. Facility consists of 5 classrooms-Kiwi (2-3 yr. old), Plum (2 ½-3 ½ yrs. old), Mango (3 ½-4 ½ yrs. old), Apple & Pineapple (pre-K). Classrooms are clean and in good repair and have proper heat and ventilation. All classrooms have age appropriated toys, furnishings and learning materials. Classrooms have storage cubbies for children’s personal belongings Facility provides sleeping cots and sheets for children, sheets are washed by facility. There are two children’s bathrooms with 5 toilets and 4 sinks and no running hot water. All cleaning solutions, poisons, and other chemicals dangerous to the children are stored inaccessible to the children

Outdoor play yard consists of an area of artificial grass, sand area, and area of tanbark to cushion falls. There is plenty of play equipment and a large play structure all in good repair. There are no pools, spas, or other bodies of water at the facility. All trash containers are properly equipped with a tight-fitting lid.

Facility has multiple smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, and several fully charged fire extinguishers on site. Each classroom has first aid backpack with plenty of supplies available. Last emergency drill was conducted on January 4, 2023.

The facility provides snack and menus are posted. Children bring their own lunch and labeled water bottles to use inside or outside. Facility offers Brita filtered water to refill water bottles.

LPA reviewed 5 children’s records and 5 staff records. All children's and staff records were complete. Facility has posted the required forms (i.e., License, menus, Notification of Parent's Rights, Notification of Personal Rights, Car Seat Law (updated), and Emergency Disaster Plan). Isolation for sick children is in office.

Incidental Medical Services were discussed with Director and LPA observed medication to be properly stored, labeled, and inaccessible to children.

Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

Director was informed that as of September 1, 2016, a person may not be employed or volunteer at a childcare facility unless he or she has been immunized against influenza, pertussis, and measles or qualifies for an exemption pursuant to Health and Safety code 1596.7995 and 1597.662.

As of January 1, 2018, all staff must complete Mandated Reporter Training every two years. The training can be obtained online at www.mandatedreporterca.com.

LPA encouraged the Director to frequently visit our website at www.ccld.ca.gov for licensing regulations and new updates.

To improve the quality and value of the new inspection process, a survey will be sent to the email address provided. Please complete the survey and share your inspection experience. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100.

No deficiencies were issued today.
