25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Singh and Kaur met with teacher, Lisa Becker, and owner, Esther Marcus, for a random annual inspection. Purpose of the inspection was explained. Present, there are ten children with three teachers and the owner. Facility is operating with in the capacity and in compliance with staff child ratio on this day. Facility operate day care from Monday to Friday between 8 AM to 5 PM.
With the owner, LPAs inspected the day care areas: Classroom # 1, Classroom # 2, Bathroom and Play yard. There are no pools, spas or other bodies of water at the facility. Facility has smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, fully charged fire extinguisher and working telephone at the site. All of the cleaning solutions, poisons and other chemicals that are dangerous to the children are stored inaccessible to the children. Fireplace in classroom # 1 is barricaded and is inaccessible for children. All of the unused electric outlets have child protective covers installed. Facility has age appropriate furniture. Furniture is steady and in good repair. Facility has sufficient amount of sleeping matts. Facility floor is in good repair and free of any hazards. All toilets, hand washing facilities are in working condition with proper sanitation in place. All storage containers for solid waste and in good repair and have proper lid on top. Facility has drinking water available for children. There is drinking water in play yard for children. Play yard is free of hazards. All of the play structures are steady, in good repair and free of any loose parts. There is sand box in the play yard. Per the owner, the sand box is being covered with tarp during night time. There is sufficient amount of shaded area available for children in play yard. Per owner, staff brings the water with them, while children play in the play yard.
At 3 PM, LPAs reviewed the facility records. Facility has all of the required documents posted and visible for the public. Facility is using electronic sign in / out procedure and has the waiver posted. LPA reviewed five random children's and all staff's files. LPAs observed facility has record of names, addresses and telephone numbers of each child's authorized representative.
