Preschool program has exclusive use of outdoor area that is fenced and separate from Parkside Elementary school's outdoor area. LPA observed outdoor area to have age appropriate materials that are in good working condition. Resilient padding is located under climbing structures.
At approximately 9:45am, director arrived to facility. Preschool program is part of outside agency food program. All food is stored and prepared in separate area from preschool classrooms. Each classroom has sufficient amount of sleeping cots available for napping children in care. Children's sheets are stored in their personal cubbies. Drinking water is available to children, indoors and outdoors, witch children's individual drinking bottles or paper cups provided by program.
LPA observed preschool program to use paper sign in/out system with parents' full signatures. Sign in/out documentation is placed in front of each classroom door. Office has license and all other required documents posted. Program follows elementary school's emergency disaster schedule. Last emergency disaster drill conducted was 03/02/2022. Emergency drills are properly documented and maintained.
LPA reviewed 10 children's files, all 8 teachers files (whom were present during inspection) and director's file. Children's and staff files were complete. Required immunizations were made available for review. Director's CPR and First Aid certificate is current and will expire 01/2024.
Facility was informed that as of September 1, 2016, a person may not be employed or volunteer at a child care facility unless he or she has been immunized against influenza, pertussis, and measles or qualifies for an exemption pursuant to Health and Safety code 1596.7995 and 1597.662.
Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
