25 | On July 24th, 2024 at approximately 8:45AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Tapia-Mandujano conducted an unannounced, annual, required inspection in concurrent with a Case Management inspection to add Classroom G3. LPA met with Bilingual ELC Program Manager, Cynthia Nava and with Director, Chana Stewart. Present in the facility are Cynthia and Chana with 6 staff supervising a total of 37 preschool age children. Facility is operating within its capacity and is in compliance with staff/child ratio on this day. All staff are fingerprint cleared through the Menlo Park City School District.
Facility operates on Lower Laurel Campus and licensed to operate in G2, G4, and G5. Facility is operating in the three classrooms and using the outdoor area directly outside from each classroom "Lanai" and 3 main yards that include: River, Meadow, and Prairie. Facility operates day care from Monday - Friday 7:45am-5:30pm, following the School District Calendar.
Facility has requested to add Classroom G3 to the existing license with maintaining their existing capacity of 72. LPA inspected G3 to for health and safety concerns. G3 measures for 886.762sqft. G3 has 1 child's sink, and a teachers sink with a bubbler. Directly from G3, there are 3 toilets, a child's sink, and a changing table. LPA inspected G3 to have age appropriate toys and materials that are in good repair. Classroom has proper ventilation with sufficient lighting. G3 is still being set up. Prior of approval of G3, LPA needs the following: Fire Clearance, Floor map indicating what faucets were tested for lead, Classroom to be fully set up, and Electrical wire box to be properly repaired.
LPA continued to inspect for the annual inspection throughout the facility. LPA observed classrooms to be clean and equipped with age appropriate toys and materials. Storage for children's belongings are located inside the classrooms, labeled with each child's individual names. LPA observed facility has an installation of a fire alarm system inside the classrooms as well as a fully charged, fire extinguisher in each classroom. The classrooms has a smoke and carbon monoxide detector installed as well as emergency kits with first aid materials and emergency contact information. LPA observed that medication is stored appropriately, inaccessible to enrolled children and maintained with proper documentation.
