25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), Jyoti Saini and Gagandeep Singh, met with Director, Mary Ann Lopez, to conduct an unannounced Case Management inspection today. Purpose of the Inspection was explained to Director. Present is one staff caring for 2 Toddler children. The facility is requesting to add a Toddler component to this preschool license. LPAs with Director inspected the child care area indoors and outdoors for health and safety hazards. The Toddler component will occupy the room B2 and B3 which will allowed for 22 children (18 - 36 months old). Facility hours of operations are 8:30AM- 3:00PM. As per Director facility only provides snacks. Toddler classroom has age appropriate toys and equipment and are in good repair and edges of the shelves are properly cushioned. Facility has a fire extinguisher that meets the minimum requirements, a smoke and a carbon monoxide detector.. Both classrooms have separate fire extinguisher. LPAs observed that all the Electric outlets are properly covered. As per Director there are sufficient amount of cots available for children to take nap. As per Director medication box is stored in Teacher's lounge. There is Sign in/ sign out available for the children at the main entrance of the facility. Facility do Provide IMS plan and copy of the plan was submitted. During the inspection, LPAs measured the toddlers usage areas including indoor and outdoor. The classrooms are identical and total indoor areas is 889.08 sqft, which allows 25 children. The outdoor area is 3886.77, which allows 51 children. Drinking water is readily available Indoors via pitcher/cups that teachers bring outdoors for children if needed. Children in the toddler component have their own outdoor play area. Outdoor play area has age appropriate toys and equipment and are in good repair.
There is one restroom with one toilet, one sink for children's use by the classroom and are kept clean, in good repair, and with adequate supplies. There is another restroom with three toilets and two sinks by the director's office. Per director, both of the restrooms are being used by preschool age children and toddlers. Director has been advised to sent a wavier request to the licensing to use the restroom for both programs. There is additional sink for hand washing in the classroom Staff use a separate restroom. The isolation area for ill children is in the front office.
