25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Van made an announced Case Management visit in conjunction with an Annual Random inspection and met with Site Director Jessica Mihaly. The Department received an application from the facility requesting a capacity increase on June 25, 2021. Currently, the facility is licensed for 30 preschool-age children and requesting an increase to the capacity of 48 preschool-age children.
LPA and Site Director inspected the new classrooms for Health and Safety Hazards. No changes were made to the previously licensed classroom #K5. The outdoor space was renovated in March 2021. Per Director, the K2 classroom that was added to the license on August 18, 2020, capacity increase will be removed from the license. In replacement for K2 classroom, two new classrooms #29, and #30, will be added to the license.
From the previously measured K5 classroom, the facility had a total of 771 square feet. During today's inspection, classrooms #29 and #30 were measured. Room #29 (Seagulls) measured 756 square feet, and room #30 (Larks) measured 719 square feet. With the additional two classrooms, the overall square footage is 2246 square feet, allowing for a capacity of 64 children. The new classrooms appear clean and in good repair with sufficient lighting and ventilation. All furnishing and equipment are observed to be in good condition, and there are cubbies available for children's belongings. The facility now has two toilets, allowing for 30 children, and four sinks, allowing for 60 children. The facility requests a waiver to use two additional boys and girls restrooms used by the Elementary school children. The two bathrooms have a total of 3 toilets, 3 sinks, and 2 urinals located across classrooms #29 & #30. If the waiver is approved, the facility must have signs posted on the restroom door, indicating exclusive use for preschool children when in use or when needed. Staff will make sure only one group uses the restroom at a time. |
