On March 8, 2021 at 2:00 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Cowan conducted an announced Case Management Inspection. Due to Covid-19 State of Emergency, the inspection was conducted via Facetime. The applicant has a small family is applying for a Capacity Increase for a Family Childcare License. Applicant lives in a five bedroom and four bathroom home with husband and minor child. Present in the home is applicant along with 6 preschool age children.
Childcare areas are lower level family room, bedroom (used for napping), bathroom, and backyard. The right portion of the back yard is fenced and off-limits. The rest of the home (the entire upper level) is Off-Limits.
During today’s inspection, LPA inspected the home and yard. LPA observed the following today: Day-care area is clean, orderly, and equipped with age appropriate toys and equipment for the children. Home has proper lighting and ventilation. Home has a working telephone, a working smoke and carbon monoxide detector, and a fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher. There are no bodies of water on the property. Fireplace in the day-care area is fully barricaded. There are no detergents, or cleaning products accessible to day-care children. Applicant states that there is a properly stored gun in the home. LPA was unable to inspect on this date. Licensee has a cat in the home. The yard is fenced.

LPA observed a hand washing poster and Covid-19 information posted on day-care entrance door. Applicant states that if weather permits, the backyard door is left open for ventilation during day-care hours.
Applicant has received clearance from San Mateo Fire Department.

LPA recommends licensure for a Large Family Child Care Home.
