25 | Due to COVID-19 and DPH guidelines of social distancing, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Winnie Ly conducted the Relocation of Pre-Licensing and Technical Assistance tele-inspections via Zoom Meeting on August 25, 2020 at 3:00pm with Licensee Wan Yu Kuo. Present at the home during the tele-inspections were licensee, licensee’s husband and five day care children. Licensee rents this home consists of 2 bedrooms, a playroom for Licensee's child, two bathrooms, two living rooms, a dining room which Licensee uses as her office, a kitchen, backyard, a garage and a large room toward the back of the house. Licensee resides on premises with her husband and her minor child. All adults in the home have criminal record clearance. The Day Care Area is in the large room toward the back of the house and a bathroom. Parents and children enter the family child care through the gate on the side of the house. The off limit areas are 2 bedrooms, a playroom for Licensee's child, one bathroom, two living rooms, a dining room which Licensee uses as her office, a kitchen, backyard and the garage. Licensee's plan was to divide the backyard into two sections. One section is for day care children and the other will be set as off limit. However, LPA observed backyard does not have clear barrier to prevent children from entering off limit section; therefore, Licensee was advised the entire backyard has been set as off limit at this time. Licensee can contact the department if backyard is ready to be added to the day care areas. Per licensee, family child care’s operating hours are from Monday-Friday 8am-6:00pm. Licensee stated facility will be providing lunch to children in care.
During the tele-inspections, the home is clean, safe, and has working smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, fire extinguisher, and telephone. Licensee has a first aid kit and a thermometer. There are no bodies of water on the premises. Home has age appropriate toys and equipment available for the children in care. Licensee is reminded of NO walker, exersaucers, jumpers, bouncers and any similar items to be used for children in care. Those items shall be made inaccessible to children. Discipline policy was discussed with applicant. Per Licensee, home does not have firearms or dangerous weapons.
