25 | On March 9th, 2023 at 11:17AM Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Rosie Breault conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection to follow-up on an Action Level Exceedance (ALE) reported to LPA by director. LPA met with facility director Ariana Pacecho and advised her the purpose of the inspection. Director provided LPA a tour of the facility. There were sixty (60) children in care at the time of the inspection.
Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their drinking water for lead contamination between January 1, 2020 and January 1, 2023, and then every five (5) years after the date of the first test. If the water testing results indicate that the facility has an ALE, an immediate response shall be required pursuant to section 101704, which may include remediation.
The facility director advised LPA there was a lead exceedance as told to her by water sampler for preschool (PS) hallway fountain. LPA reviewed water sample findings and there was no exceedance present. PS hallway registered at 4.3 ppb and per written directive, results with values of 5.5 ppb shall be deemed an Action Level Exceedance.
During today’s inspection, LPA inspected the outlet in question. LPA observed that the one (1) drinking fountain was taped off rendering inaccessible to children and staff. Director stated that facility is in process of installing a new fountain based on water sampler’s report of 4.3 ppb.
No deficiency was cited during today's inspection.
Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the director and Notice of Site Visit provided. |
