On June 12th, 2023, at 11:09AM Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Rosie Breault conducted an unannounced Annual/Random inspection. LPA met with site supervisor Beverly Lent and advised her the purpose of the inspection. Santa Barbara School District Director Maggie Flores arrived during inspection. This center is located on the grounds Santa Barbara High School (SBHS). Center follows SBHS school schedule and at this time is closed for the summer session (June 12th, 2023 – August 11th, 2023). Center will re-open August 21, 2023. Center’s clients are two (2) to three (3) years only, although licensed to served up to five (5) years old.

Director provided LPA a tour of the facility grounds. The center currently utilizes one (1) classroom for care and supervision. LPA observed required licensing documents posted. Classroom has ample ventilation, clean surfaces and flooring, and age-appropriate toys and furniture. Center provides filter water for children’s use. LPA observed center to have a sufficient restrooms for use and were functioning at the time of the inspection. LPA observed room to have first aid kits. Outdoor play yard consisted of shade, ample soft surface, and age-appropriate equipment. No bodies of water are present. Last emergency drill was conducted during school hours on 4/2/2023 and LPA observed fire extinguisher to be serviced on 8/4/2022.

A sampling of children and staff records were reviewed. Teacher for upcoming school year has required qualifications. Pediatric First Aid/CPR certificate expires 10/21/2024 and AB 1207 Mandated Reporter Training certificate expires 6/16/2024. LPAs verified SB 792 Child Care Adult Immunization and Tuberculosis Requirements.

Exit interview conducted, report reviewed, and copy provided to site supervisor.

THE NOTICE OF SITE VISIT WAS POSTED AS REQUIRED BY H&S CODE SEC. 1596.817. THE NOTICE OF SITE VISIT MUST REMAIN POSTED FOR 30 DAYS OR A CIVIL PENALTY OF $100.00 WILL APPLY.
