25 | On June 7th, 2023 at 12:00 PM, Licensing Program Analysts Dixie Wright and Elvin Baddley conducted an unannounced One (1) Year Required inspection at a Family Child Care Home (FCCH) owned and operated by Licensee, Naoko Burns. LPA discussed the purpose of the inspection with the licensee. The inspection was conducted to evaluate the facility's compliance with the licensing regulations and Health and Safety Code.
During the inspection, LPAs and Licensee toured the interior and exterior of the facility. There were no children present. Licensee stated she is no longer accepting new children, and is watching older children once in a while. LPA observed that required licensing forms were posted on the wall in the back Day Care play room. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were also observed, tested at 12:27 PM and found functional. The regulation fire extinguisher was serviced on 08/14/2020. Licensee was advised it needs to be serviced or replaced every year. The facility has not conducted a Fire Drill in last six months and Licensee is unsure of when the last one is done. The bathroom is free of toxins. Cleaning compounds and knives are kept inaccessible to children in care. The backyard of the FCCH was enclosed with 6-foot brick wall and wooden fence and equipped with age appropriate toys and equipment. There was a Koi pond observed in the backyard with no water in it. The pond had a fence making it inaccessible to children. The licensee stated that there were no guns or ammunition in the home.
