NARRATIVE
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25	On July 27th, 2023, at 11:00am Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Giovani Gonzalez conducted an unannounced Annual Random inspection at the above-mentioned Family Child Care Home (FCCH) . LPA met with Licensee Kathryn Calzada and informed them the purpose of the inspection. At the time of inspection there were 3 infants and 5 children in care. There were two assistants present providing care. LPA and the Licensee toured the interior and exterior of the home. The FCCH is a single store 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home. The License uses the the 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, living room and backyard for child care, while the remainder of the home is excluded. LPA observed age appropriate toys inside the home. LPA observed the restroom to be clean and free of toxins. LPA observed that the cleaning compounds and kitchen knives to be in an elevated area out of reach for the children in care. LPA observed required licensing forms and documents posted on the wall near the entry of the FCCH. LPA observed smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in the FCCH. A combination carbon monoxide and smoke detector was tested at 11:11 and was found to be functioning.. The FCCH has a regulation fire extinguisher which was serviced on 7/5/2023. LPA reminded the Licensee to either service or purchase a regulation fire extinguisher annually. The backyard is enclosed by a wooden fencing and the footing in the area is cement and grass. Toys and play equipment observed on site are age appropriate. LPA observed a camper and a boat in the backyard and reminded the Licensee that the children cannot play near or around these items. LPA observed a locked shed as well. LPA observed no bodies of water on site. A sampling of the children's records were reviewed. The records are current, complete and possessed (CONT. LIC 809-C)

emergency contact information and immunization records. Safe Sleep logs were reviewed and were found to be complete and current. LPA reviewed Licensee's records and observed that their CPR is valid until 9/17/2024 and that their Mandated Reporter Training expired. LPA reviewed assistant files which were found to be complete and current. LPA did not observe any bodies of water. Licensee stated that there are no firearms or ammunition stored in the home.

Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Family Child Care Homes Section 102417. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with Licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as for additional resource. LPAs also informed Licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.

No deficiencies were given. Notice of Site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
