25 | On 3/9/20 at 10:15am, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Melissa Stewart and Maria McDaniels arrived at the Child Care Center with Toddler Option for an unannounced Required- 1 Year inspection and met with Director, Maria Suarez. The purpose of the inspection was explained and LPAs accompanied Director on a tour of the center. The center operates, Monday - Friday, 7:45am - 4:45pm. All required forms, including monthly menu, are posted at the main entrance of the center. At 10:22 am, LPAs observed the indoor activity area of the Preschool One classroom. There were three (3) children in the restroom with one (1) staff and thirteen children outside with three (3) staff and a group of college students from Allan Hancock who were observing. There were four (4) staff supervising fourteen children who were engaged in activities in the Preschool Two classroom. Director explained that the college student workers wear a red apron and the college student observers wear a blue apron. The Toddler One and Toddler Two classrooms were inspected at 10:29am. There were nine (9) children supervised by three (3) staff outdoors in the toddler yard and two (2) children supervised by four (4) staff in the Toddler Two classroom. Each classroom is equipped with a combination smoke/carbon monoxide detector and a first aid kit which is located in or near the children's restroom. All four classrooms and bathrooms were observed to be clean and free of toxins. The classrooms are organized into activity centers containing age appropriate toys, books, dramatic play and writing/craft areas. Outdoors, LPAs observed age appropriate activity centers which included: art, blocks, water table, grass, shade, bike path, and dramatic play areas.
