25 | On November 21 2023 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Giovani Gonzalez conducted an unannounced Case Management - Incident inspection at the above-mentioned Child Care Center (CCC). LPA met with Director Marcela Caceres and informed them the purpose of the inspection. At the time of the inspection 39 children were present.
On 10/20/2023 the CCC reported an unusual incident report where a child (C1) was playing with a tricycle and tripped and hit their head on a wooden beam. C1 cut their forehead and needed stitches.
LPA toured the interior and exterior of the CCC and observed the areas where the incident occurred. LPA observed the wooden beam to be part of the structure of the play ground perimeter and was not in the tricycle path. Director informed LPA that this was the first time they had an incident like that and that they shaved down the parts closest to the path. LPA observed children playing on the tricycles which were being supervised at all times.
Director informed LPA that they informed the parents immediately when it occurred and that the child received 1 stitch. Director stated that when it occurred they applied first aid immediately and notified parents as well.
Given that the tricycle path is free of hazards, LPA's observation that there is plenty of supervision and that the CCC took appropriate action by providing first aid, calling the child's parents and reporting incident to CCLD, no deficiencies are being issued as a result of this incident
Notice of site visit was given, and should remain posted for a minimum of 30 days.
