On April 11, 2023 at 12:00 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Gigi Reyes conducted an unannounced 1 Year Required inspection at the above child care center (CCC). The purpose of the inspection was discussed with Site Supervisor Ms. Rocio Hernandez Ramirez , who provided a tour of the CCC This is a preschool program with toddler option. The CCC operates from April to October every year. Hours of operations are Monday to Friday 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

There were 7 Preschoolers, 3 Toddlers and 7 staff present. Children were observed napping when LPA arrived. LPA observed licensing required notices are posted prominently at the entrance door. Current menu is also posted. The CCC has two classrooms in use, one for toddler program and one for preschool program. There are total of 5 toilets and 7 sinks readily accessible for children in care. Age-appropriate games, activities, and furniture were available for children in both classrooms, and the outdoor playgrounds had age-appropriate toys and equipment with ample shade and wood chip cushioning under the play equipment. The CCC has water available for children inside and outside the classroom supplied by Ready Refresh vendor. Site Supervisor stated there are no guns or ammunition in the Center. Nobodies of water was observed.

Per AB2370 Written Directives, CCC had conducted the water lead test on December 10, 2022. Based on report submitted by the water sampler, there is no exceedance of 5 parts per billion (ppb) Action Level (AL)

A sampling of children and staff records were reviewed. Children's files were found complete. Teachers present have current Pediatric First Aid/CPR certificate that expires on 9/23/2024. All Teachers have taken the Mandated Reporter Training, certificate expires on 4/3/2026.

No deficiencies were cited during today's inspection.

The CCC is not providint Incidental Medical Services (IMS). IMS policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep Regulation, the frequently asked questions (FAQ) and the Safe Sleep Regulation web page at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.

Site Supervisor was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
