LPA met with Damaris Miner, Licensee of the FCCH and explained the purpose of the inspection. LPA, in the company of Licensee toured the interior and exterior of the FCCH. The FCCH’s activity room, family room, backyard and hall restroom are used for child care services, while upper story of the home is excluded from child care and barricaded by a child safety gate at the base of the stairwell. At the time of the inspection, LPA observed four children in care.
Required forms are predominantly posted at the FCCH. The FCCH’s living room has a fireplace which is screened by glass. The FCCH's restroom used for child care is observed to be clean and free of toxins. LPA observed smoke and carbon monoxide detectors throughout the FCCH. The detectors were tested at 9:25 AM and found to be operable. The FCCH has a regulation fire extinguisher (2A10BC) on site which was purchased on 2/9/22. LPA reminded the Licensee to either service or purchase a regulation fire extinguisher annually. The FCCH maintains working telephone services.
LPA observed the FCCH to be clean and orderly. The FCCH has ventilation to afford for the children’s comfort. The FCCH was void of hazardous items. Medication, cleaning products and sharps are stored in elevated cabinets in the kitchen which are inaccessible and beyond the reach of children in care. Toys, furniture and equipment in the FCCH are age appropriate.
The backyard has varied footing and is enclosed by a combination of wooden fencing and a cider block wall. The backyard's entry/exit gates are secure. Play equipment observed in backyard are age appropriate and in satisfactory condition. LPA observed no bodies of water on site.
LPA reviewed children's records. The records are current, complete and possessed emergency contact
