25 | On 9/7/22, at 10:00 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elvin Baddley conducted an unannounced Required Inspection the abovementioned Child Care Center (CCC). LPA met with Erika Ronchietto, Director of the CCC and explained the purpose of the inspection. LPA, in the company of Director, toured the interior and exterior of the CCC. The CCC operates from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday - Friday. This is a combined center with a toddler option. The CCC uses four classrooms (Sea Stars Room- ages 18 month -two years, Green Turtle Room - ages 18 month -two years, Blue Beluga - two years - three years, and Rainbow Fish Room- two and a half years -three and a half years) for child care. The CCC is the grounds of Apostles Church of Santa Barbara. LPA observed 39 children on site during the inspection along with eight teachers (cleared and associated) providing care and supervision. .
The classrooms of the CCC is clean and organized. The classrooms have age appropriate furnishings and play equipment available for children. The CCC has an operable carbon monoxide detector which was tested (11:53 AM). The bathrooms used by children are in safe and sanitary operating condition. Disinfectants and cleaning solutions are observed in elevated locations in each classroom which is beyond the reach of children in care. The CCC has a centralized storage location for cleaning compounds in the Custodian room which is secure and in the CCC's hallway. Medication is stored in the CCC's storage room which is inaccessible to children in care. Sharps in the classroom are also located in elevated locations in the classroom. The CCC has wall heaters which are screened by child safety gates despite not being in use.
The CCC provides snacks (morning and mid day) for the children. Lunch is provided by the parents of children. Staff members ensure lunches from the children's home contain the essential food groups and are void of junk foods. LPA reviewed a posted menu along with licensing required notices posted predominately on the CCC's hallway wall. The CCC uses an electronic Sign In/Out system. LPA reviewed the system information and noted recorded arrival and exit times for children in care as well as the children's authorized representative.
