Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Martina Jimenez conducted an annual random inspection and met with Irma Ruiz, Licensee. The home was toured inside and outside. LPA observed five (5) children playing in the family room The areas used for the are the kitchen, dining room area, and family room. The second story of the home is off limits to children. There is a gate at the bottom of the stairs making upstairs area inaccessible to children. The kitchen, and bathroom are accessible to children. LPA observed age appropriate toys, games, books, tables and chairs. The backyard is completely fenced. LPA observed one (1) dog secured in the backyard. LPA observed age appropriate tables, chairs, shade area and bike area. No bodies of water were observed during the visit. Licensee stated that there are no guns or ammunition in the home. Licensee is not a licensed foster care home.

Licensee is current with immunization requirements per SB 792. The safety drills were conducted and documented, last drill was conducted March 14, 2018. Licensee was reminded to conduct and document safety drills once every 6 months. A fire extinguisher was observed during the visit. Licensee is reminded to service/purchase fire extinguisher yearly. Licensee is current with CPR and First Aid which expires May 5, 2020.

LPA reviewed “A Child Care Provider’s Guide to Safe to Sleep, Safe Sleep in Child Care, and Effects of Lead Exposure”. The visit was conducted in Spanish, and report was translated in Spanish by LPA Jimenez. LPA observed licensee post the Notice of Site visit. Licensee was reminded to check updates in the regulation at www.ccld.ca.gov.

LPA discussed AB 1207 Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training. Licensee has not completed the training as required. Licensee was reminded about the requirement for care providers/employees, including volunteers to obtain immunization against Influenza, Pertussis, and Measles. Each employee and volunteer shall receive an influenza vaccination between August 1 and December 1 of each year.

Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Family Child Care Homes Section 102417. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department.
