On April 9, 2024 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Giovani Gonzalez conducted an unannounced inspection at the abovementioned Child Care Center (CCC) to conclude a complaint investigation. LPA met with Director Jacqueline Mcdonough and informed them the purpose of the inspection. At the time of the inspection there were 27 children present.

The investigation included interviews with staff, interviews with parents, file review, and 2 unannounced visits.

The allegation that staff do not ensure exit door are safely secured while children are in care could not be corroborated. According to staff interviews the only time the exit ways remain open is when large items are being brought in, like when they bring in food for the children. Parent interviews revealed that they had not seen the back gate propped open and that in order to enter they must unlatch the door to open it. During LPAs first and second visit LPA observed both gates to be secured when children were present. Based on this information the allegation is deemed unsubstantiated.

The allegation that the staff do not ensure adequate care and supervision could not be corroborated. Staff interviews revealed that they have sufficient staffing to provide adequate care and supervision. Parent interviews revealed that there is always staff members that are attentive to the children at all times. Based on this information the allegation is deemed unsubstantiated.

The allegation that staff do not ensure unsafe toys are removed from facility could not be corroborated. Staff interviews revealed that when a children’s toy/equipment is damaged it is thrown away. Staff also mentioned that if the equipment is too large to just be thrown away the equipment is moved to an area that is inaccessible to children. During LPAs first and second visit, LPA did not observe an toys that were unsafe for children in care. Based on this information the allegation is deemed unsubstantiated.

Although the allegations may have happened or are valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violation(s) did or did not occur, therefore the allegations are unsubstantiated.

Exit interview was conducted with Director Jacqueline Mcdonough and notice of site visit was given.
