25 | On 5/12/23, at 9:45 AM, Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Elvin Baddley conducted a unannounced Required Annual inspection of the abovementioned Family Child Care Home (FCCH). LPA met with Katia Rios, Licensee of the FCCH and explained the purpose of the inspection. LPA notes the Licensee's spouse, Juan Rios, assisted with communication as the Licensee is primarily Spanish speaking. LPA, in the company of Licensee, toured the interior and exterior of the FCCH. The home's living room, dinning room, kitchen, hallway restroom and backyard, are used for child care, while the remainder of the home is excluded. LPA observed nine children on site along with an assistant (cleared and associated).
LPA observed required licensing forms and documents posted on the wall in the dining room LPA observed a smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in the FCCH. The detectors were not tested as six children in care are napping. The FCCH has a regulation fire extinguisher which was serviced on 8/29/22. LPA reminded the Licensee to either service or purchase a regulation fire extinguisher annually.
LPA observed age appropriate toys, furniture and equipment in the FCCH's interior. LPA observed the restroom used by children in care to be clean and free of toxins. Medication is stored ion an elevated cabinet shelf in the kitchen which is inaccessible to children. LPAs observed cleaning compounds in elevated locations in the home which are beyond the reach of children in care. Sharps in the FCCH are stored on an elevated shelf in a cabinet which is also beyond the reach of children.
The backyard is enclosed by a wooden fencing and the footing in the area is cement. Toys and play equipment observed on site are age appropriate. The fence’s entry/exit gate is secure. LPA observed a refrigerator in the back yard area which is secured. LPA observed no bodies of water on site.
A sampling of the children's records were reviewed. The records are current, complete and possessed emergency contact information as well as immunization records. LPA also reviewed documentation noting
