On February 21, 2020, at 1:45 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elvin Baddley conducted an unannounced Annual/Random inspection of the abovementioned Family Child Care Home (FCCH). LPA met with Maryvonne Lesvenan, Licensee of the FCCH and explained the purpose of the inspection. LPA, in the company of the Licensee, toured the interior and exterior of the FCCH. The home’s living room, family room, hallway bathroom, front porch and back porch are used for child care, while the home’s second story is excluded from child care and barricaded by a child safety gate. At the time of the inspection, four children are present.

LPA observed required licensing forms and documents posted on FCCH's family room wall. The FCCH's living room has a fireplace which is screened by glass and inaccessible to children. LPA observed operable smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in the FCCH. LPA observed a regulation fire extinguisher in the FCCH which was service on January 31, 2020. LPA reminded the Licensee to either service or purchase a regulation fire extinguisher annually. LPA reviewed the home’s fire/disaster drill documentation which noted the last drill occurring on November 22, 2019.

The home was clean, orderly and void of hazards. The bathroom used for care was clean and free of toxins. Toys, furniture and equipment observed in the FCCH are age appropriate. LPA observed medication and cleaning compounds stored on an elevated shelf in a laundry room cabinet. the aforementioned is beyond the reach of children.

The front and back porch are enclosed by wooden and wrought iron fencing. LPA observed the fencing's entry/exit gates are secured. Toys and play equipment observed in the areas are age appropriate and in satisfactory condition. The housing complex where the FCCH is located has a community pool which is surrounded by fencing and inaccessible to children in care [and other individuals without an issued key]..
