25 | On January 9, 2020, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elvin Baddley conducted a unannounced Annual/Random inspection of the abovementioned Family Child Care Home (FCCH). LPA met with Debra Castillo, Licensee of the FCCH and explained the purpose of the inspection. LPA, in the company of the Licensee, toured the interior and exterior of the FCCH. The home’s kitchen, converted bedroom, attached restroom and side yard are used for child care services, while the remainder of the home is excluded from child care. At the time of the inspection five children are present.
Required licensing forms/documents are posted in the FCCH. LPA observed operable smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in the FCCH. Each detector was tested. LPA observed a regulation fire extinguisher in the FCCH which was service on March 19, 2019. LPA reminded the Licensee to either service or purchase a regulation fire extinguisher annually. The LPA reviewed the home’s fire/disaster drill log. The most recent fire/disaster drill occurring on September 5, 2019.
The home was orderly and void of hazardous items. The bathroom used by the children was observed to be clean and free of toxins. Medication is stored in a kitchen cabinet on an elevated shelf and cleaning compounds are also stored in a kitchen cabinet on an elevated shelf. Toys, furniture and equipment observed in the FCCH are age appropriate.
